Most student films are relatively short. Early on in the program you'll be making very short films that might range from thirty seconds to five minutes. As your skills and knowledge progresses you'll likely be asked to complete larger projects. A thesis film for instance may be as long as forty-five minutes or a feature even if you're really ambitious or working on something over a long period of time such as a documentary.
This 2003 film starred Nicole Kidman, Paul Bettany, Chloe Sevigny, and Stellan Skarsgard. The setup is akin to theatre, with a minimalistic set and no walls. Dogville is a parable which tells the story of Grace Mulligan, played by Kidman, who is fleeing from the mob and takes refuge in the simple town of Dogville. Her plight is worsened when she is humiliated by the small town's citizens. Some have seen this as a straight-up criticism of America, while others feel that von Trier is invoking a more general sentiment.
Best Picture: We'll start with the big one. Right off the bat, I think Toy Story 3 and True Grit can be knocked off. Never has an animated movie won this acclaimed award, and the same can be said for remakes. No matter how good either are (Toy Story 3 was good, have yet to see True Grit though), I just don't see either one bucking that trend. Rather, I think they just received nominations out of respect as they both are (should be) very good movies for the year. Inception and The Town are both very films for the year. However, I think on some level they're both too blockbuster-ish to really end up walking away with this award. I'd love to see Inception get it, but that's not going to be the case. The Best Action Movie category will be where these two films shine.
It was at that point that my heart tried to creep out business training of my boot, slip off and hide in some books in the religious book section of the library. I snatched it back. Even though anger frothed inside of me, (based on my life experience, I capped it. I wanted to go after her down the long hall that echoed with the clicking of her Gucci's. I wanted to blow fire at her. Since I had retrieved my heart from the marble floor and stuffed it back in my chest, I made a decision at that point that I was not going to turn into an animal. This special awareness was streaking through me at that point and documentary films it re-centered me.
No surprise this at the top of the list. This has bought the Law of Attraction and its ideas to most of the world in recent years. This is jam packed with many of the leading LOA teachers and quantum physicists. If you're new to the LOA, this is a great place to start. A little shallow in detail, in some places, yet a great place to start.
The film's quirkiness and deviating from convention was enough to make it an enjoyable experience for its audience. That is why it was a huge financial success. It was soon followed by What the Bleep Down the Rabbit Hole. Will there be another film in the series? Time will tell.
